“Tradition Redefined” Exhibit

"Tradition Redefined" exhibition from the David C. Driskell Center for the Study of the Visual Arts and Culture of African Americans and the African Diaspora at the University of Maryland is on display at the Georgia Museum of Art from Jan. 30 to March 27, 2011.

Drawing from the Soul

This art exhibition by Dawud Anyabwile will feature art pieces from the graphic novel series "Brother Man" that reflect the energy, rhythms, and flavor of African-American culture. Refreshments will be served.

Headties to Hip Hop: Photographic Celebration of African American Dress

The exhibit, featuring photographs of African-American men and women during and after segregation, opens Feb. 8 with a gallery talk by UGA faculty Patricia Hunt-Hurst and Katalin Medvedev. The gallery talk will focus on African-American contributions to the history of dress and global fashion. The exhibit runs from Feb. 8 until March 1 in Barrow Hall Gallery, 2nd floor. The gallery is open 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
