“Tradition Redefined” Exhibition Lecture

Artist and scholar David C. Driskell will deliver a lecture on the creative process and art's transcendence of racial lines. The lecture is in coordination with the "Tradition Redefined" exhibition from the David C. Driskell Center for the Study of Visual Arts and Culture of African Americans and the African Diaspora at the University of Maryland. The exhibition will be on display at the Georgia Museum of Art from Jan. 30 to March 27, 2011.

The Friends of the Georgia Museum of Art present Traditions Patrons' Dinner in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the desegregation of the University of Georgia and honoring Michael Thurmond, former Georgia Labor Commissioner. Event begins at 6 p.m. with cocktails and dinner and gallery talk by Brenda Thompson on "Tradition Redefined: The Larry and Brenda Thompson Collection of African American Art" at 6:30 p.m. $50 per person with advanced reservations required by calling 706-542-0830 by Feb. 20.
